Our Relationship With Food and the Effect That Negative & Positive Thinking Can Have On Our Body & Well-Being
The cause of imbalance, dis-ease and ailments in the body, for most of us, begin vibrationally in our mind through the energy of our thoughts, emotions and beliefs. Health comes from the highest vibrations of love, appreciation, gratitude, and joy. And I wholeheartedly believe that by consistently tuning to these vibrations we can heal from within.
When it comes to food and our relationship with food, it’s important that we understand the correlation between what we’re thinking and how we’re feeling. When we berate ourselves, whether it’s spoken or just a thought, these negative vibrations create stress in the body which lead to inflammation which causes imbalance and disease in the body.
Women have been programmed from a young age to tend to our looks and our weight and for many this leads to an unhealthy relationship with food — calorie counting, restrictive eating, subscribing to diet culture, constantly checking the number on the scale, and shaming ourselves for eating “too many carbs”. But it can often be this very cycle of dieting & shaming that leads to weight gain, imbalance and disease.
I wish we were all taught in school from an early age the importance of cultivating positive, loving thoughts because the truth of the matter is that our bodies are a mirror of our inner thoughts and beliefs, and more important than how we look on the outside is how we feel and think on the inside.
We need to get away from negative thinking around food, especially when we’re indulging on something that may not necessarily be “healthy”. Eating an order of french fries, enjoying them without self-judgment and having gratitude for the fries will have a very different effect on your body than eating an order of fries, thinking negative thoughts and shaming yourself. You see it’s not necessarily the food that’s the problem (everything in moderation is my mantra), it’s our thought about the food that’s the issue.
Since our subconscious mind dictates 95% of our life and is always listening and storing information, the way that we think and speak plays a vital role in how we ultimately feel. The good news is we can reprogram the subconscious mind by *consistently* practicing mindful eating and positive thinking during mealtime.
I learned about the concept of mindful eating and the power of our thoughts in many books, but it wasn’t until I implemented these practices into my daily life that I understood the significance of the idea. and it was a huge lightbulb moment for me. I realized how powerful my thoughts were when I sat down for meals, set aside my phone, held appreciation for the food on my plate, thought about the process it took for the ingredients to get from the farm to my table, and savored each bite.
I was healthier than ever and yet I wasn’t on a diet and I wasn’t restricting. I listened to my body and ate what it was asking for. Sometimes that would be a grain bowl filled with vegetables, and at times it would be a burger and fries. I felt better after meals. I intuitively listened to my body and knew when I was full. I was happy and healthy.
I want women everywhere to heal their relationship with food and feel good. Better than good, I want them to feel vibrant, energetic, joyful! We can all do this. It starts in our minds, by cultivating positive, loving thoughts.
